Never thought I would be writing this article.
Early Sunday morning (January 26), TMZ broke the news of a helicopter crashing in the hills of Calabasas and one of the nine victims on board was the NBA legend Kobe Bryant.
You all know the accolades (5x NBA Champion, 2x NBA Finals MVP, 2x Olympic Gold Medalist, etc.) and what he’d accomplished throughout his career with the Los Angeles Lakers, but he became much more for the city of Los Angeles and fans around the world over those 20 years.
I know this isn’t a sports website or a personal blog but hey, I needed to write this one out. You would’ve thought the day he walked away from the game was as low as it was going to get.
Crazy for this all to happen the day after LeBron passed Kobe on the All-Time NBA Scoring list in Philadelphia (where Kobe grew up) as he had “Mamba4Life” written on his shoes.
There will never be another Black Mamba. Thank you for all the memories and for bringing us the Mamba Mentality.
The identities of all the victims have been revealed, one being Kobe’s daughter Gianna Bryant. They were all headed to the Mamba Academy. May they all rest in paradise.
