Nipsey Hussle’s death has left the entire community with a heavy heart. Everyone continues to pay their respect and mourn over this huge loss, including hosting vigils in their respective cities or moment of silence at their shows.
Carl Chery, Head of Urban at Spotify, threw out the idea on Twitter if the entire industry would come together for a moment of silence by moving new music releases to another week.
Now, whether it was due to Carl’s idea or not, there are a few artist that are pushing back the release of their new music in honor of Nipsey. Machine Gun Kelly announced he will no longer be releasing his first single off his forthcoming album this week. ScHoolboy Q felt the same way and was able to work with the label and radio stations to pull his single from dropping. Lastly, YG shared that he was going to release a surprise album on April 12th but will be delaying that at least a month.
Let’s hope others follow.
